The Passion Behind Rasha Mahmoud Designs

In the world of architecture and interior design, Architect Rasha Mahmoud stands out as a passionate and detail-oriented professional. With a strong background in the arts and a dedication to creating custom-made designs, Rasha has made a name for herself in the industry. In Co Magazine's exclusive interview with Rasha, she shares her journey, her signature style, and her vision for the future with us.

Rasha started by describing her upbringing and how, at an early age, she discovered her passion for architecture. She also discussed how her graduation from the Fine Arts College's architecture program marked a turning point in her life. "I've always wanted to be an architect, and my education has strengthened that desire. The Fine Arts College introduced me to the world of sculpture, painting, and the science of beauty through its distinctive Architecture Section, which focused on art-related themes. I came to appreciate the delicate nature of design and the value of working with details during this period."; she reported.

Rasha was dedicated to design, which is why she was adamant about honing her abilities to become an extremely skilled interior designer and architect.

She was eager to stress this in our interview with her, saying, "I knew I needed to expand my knowledge beyond my architectural studies. I pursued additional education by earning a diploma from the Engineering Syndicate in Cairo and a specialized diploma in Interior Design from the American University in Cairo (AUC). Additionally, I obtained a diploma in Project Management from AUC."

Despite the rigorous nature of these programs, Rasha completed them in parallel within an impressive timeframe of just one year and three months, and also she pursued a Master's in Architecture at AUC, all while starting her own business in interior design.

Rasha has a unique touch of design and when we asked Rasha Mahmoud how she would describe her design approach, she replied: "I believe in creating custom-made designs that reflect my clients' styles and dreams. Through extensive meetings and brainstorming sessions, we delve into every detail envisioned by the client, creating mood boards to bring their dreams to life. Drawing upon my experience and professional knowledge, I apply a range of styles, but my affinity lies with minimalism, inspired by the "Less is More" movement in architecture championed by Mies Van Der Rohe."

Overcoming Obstacles

Rasha is not just an Architect, but she is a worrier in her field, she is planning for each step of her work and tries to overcome all the challenges she faces as an interior designer. She believes that the main problem now is how to save sourcing of materials as it is the major obstacle in the Interior designing industry, especially due to the economic crisis in Egypt and worldwide. Added: "Imported materials are often unavailable, and fixed budgets can pose challenges during the construction phase. Market fluctuations can cause prices to skyrocket, leading to debates with clients. This is a common hurdle that many designers currently face."

In today's fast-paced world, clients are increasingly seeking innovative and efficient ways to collaborate with professionals. Architect Rasha understands this shift and has seamlessly integrated digital tools into her design process. She recognizes that clients value the convenience and transparency of remote collaboration, leading her to embrace a modern approach to interior design. "I have discovered that many clients appreciate remote collaboration. To meet their expectations, I offer comprehensive online services from the early design stages to project execution. Through Zoom meetings, clients can follow the progress of their projects without constant in-person visits. This streamlined approach allows for efficient communication and the delivery of turnkey projects.” Rasha explained.
