For the first time: Egyptian participation in the largest film and television content exhibition in Franc
Shahinaz Al-Akkad: Participation in the exhibition enhances the global vision for Egyptian entertainment and cultural content
Under the initiative "Egyptian Media Hub," Egypt is participating for the first time with a large pavilion at the Palais des Festivals in MIPCOM Cannes, the most important and largest international exhibition specializing in film and television content. The event starts today, October 21, and runs until October 24 in Cannes, France. The pavilion, held under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture, includes several government entities and private companies.
Producer Shahinaz Al-Akkad, founder of the "Egyptian Media Hub" initiative, stated, "I have been searching for an entity that presents Egyptian content in cinema and television drama in a distinctive way. Unfortunately, despite our long history in this industry, there has not been a purely Egyptian entity; therefore, we aim through this initiative to focus on what we present to the world." She emphasized that participation in MIPCOM Cannes enhances the global perspective on the entertainment and cultural content being offered from Egypt, whether in cinema or television. It is one of the largest international exhibitions in the entertainment content sector and is described as the "mother of markets" in this field, with over 2,800 participants from more than 75 countries.
Al-Akkad added, "The Egyptian pavilion is held under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture, featuring participation from around eight film and television production companies, including producers like Mohamed Hefzy, Tamer Mortada, Sherif Fathy, Ashraf Abdelbaky, Mohamed Abdelwahab, Ahmed Badawy, and others, who will showcase their content. Additionally, the Cairo International Film Festival will participate to announce the activities of its upcoming edition, which will take place from November 13 to 22."
